Apologize for the radio silence these last few weeks as I’ve been recovering from the weight of being so correct on my pre-season #letquinncook predictions. How about the deep ball?
Based on how many hours I’ve spent watching highlights, we know the Horns are playing some good ball. How about the land thieves up there in Norman?
After going 6-7 in year 1, with the firehose fully inserted in his month, blowing and going*, Brent Venables has OU off to a 5-0 start after beating powerhouse programs along the way like SMU, Arkansas State and Tulsa. 😃. While not perfect, this OU squad is playing better than the one that lost 49-0.
The CFB world turns its eyes to Dallas as both teams head into the Cotton Bowl undefeated for the first time since 2011 (that game sure sucked).
Man, two undefeated teams and CFP implications on the line sure shows that everything runs through Lubbock.
Let’s dive in.
*Don’t @me he actually said this
A little History
Texas leads the all-time series 63-50-5
I’m personally…. 3 - 6 all-time, going 1-3 during my time as a student (thx Chuck and the Mensa).

‘08 - Obvi
‘05 - Broke the 5 Yr. Streak
‘13 - Case was out there droppin them bombs
‘63 - Texas breaks through
Wasn’t there but check out this great SI write - up on a UT fan throughout the weekend.
What The Coaches Are Saying
Brent “The Firehose” Venables
The refusal to acknowledge the uniqueness of the UT / OU game is so strange to me….
It’s not a sign of weakness to admit how playing a neutral site game, in the middle of a state fair might be different than the other 11? There is a 55ft tall cowboy outside the stadium…
Very BYOG energy, if you ask me.
The Great White Sark
Per usual, Sark’s press conferences are insightful and honest. I’ve always appreciated how he’s handled the UT media (mainly by dunking on Kirk Bohls).
Don’t think he with be the 30th highest paid coach in CFB for much longer.
What The Prognosticators Are Saying
Josh Pate (who is starting to grow on me tbh)
The Model loves Texas.
Our Lord and Savior, Joel Klatt
Cover 3 Podcast
A take from an OU podcast*
Ends at the 44 min mark. Very unbiased from these two.
For example, Co - host Teddy Lehman said that Quinn is “average this season” ,“that almost anyone can do the stuff he’s done” and he thinks OU has a “large QB advantage” this year.
LOL. Damn. We certainly appreciate taking off the crimson colored glasses here, guys.
*Narrator: The question of why El Cuco thought two former OU players would be a source of unbiased RRS analysis is a puzzling one.
What Vegas Thinks
Horns -6.5
Absolutely HAMMER the Boys in Orange & White
What Scott Fisher Thinks
Clear skies. 58 degrees at kickoff. High of 72. No chance of rain
and…
What I Think
Well, I’m not sure what to think really. On one hand, I’m extremely confident. So confident I’m not sure what to do with my hands.
And why not? Texas is playing at an extremely high level and has clear personnel advantages up and down the roster. We should win this game full stop.
BUT
Years of batter horn syndrome has left me uneasy about all the hype around Texas going into this game. OU is a good team and wild things happen in this game. I guess we could los.….. LOL. jk.
Horns by 50.
See yall at the pirate ship.
Fuck em. Fuck em all to hell
